Streamlined Document Submission for Identity Verification
Identity Verification at TAS Accountancy
Introduction to Identity Verification Requirements
Identity verification is a crucial process mandated by the UK regulations to ensure that all company directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) verify their identities. This requirement is part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, which aims to prevent the misuse of companies for illegal activities.
From 8 April 2025, individuals can voluntarily verify their identity. However, by Autumn 2025, identity verification will become mandatory for new directors and PSCs upon incorporation. Existing directors and PSCs will have a 12-month transitional period from Autumn 2025 to complete their verification, typically aligned with their company's next confirmation statement. By Spring 2026, anyone filing documents with Companies House will also need to have their identity verified.
Identity verification involves confirming that an individual is who they claim to be through various authentication methods. This process is essential for maintaining the integrity and transparency of the UK's company register and combating economic crime.
